Africa Evangelical Church (Malawi), a Christian denomination and registered trustee in Malawi, through its Projects Department, wishes to fill the post of Projects Consultant on a six-month contract with a possibility of renewal; and therefore invites applications from suitably qualified persons. The post is tenable at its Headquarters in Blantyre.

Key responsibilities

  • Working under the supervision and guidance of the Projects Head, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential support to achieve success in projects under scope; specifically a school establishment project
  • Formulate project idea and draft proposal
  • Develop and implement a Resource Mobilisation Strategy
  • Organize project meetings to review progress and to discuss future steps
  • Maintain in good order all documents which track progress
  • Identify any potential issues or risks that could hinder progress of the project, and work to identify potential solutions
  • Manage the project schedules to ensure project tasks are being delivered timely

Skills and Competencies

  • An analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-pace work environment
  • A team player with a high level of self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals
  • Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and project scheduling computer application
  • Experience in budget and financial management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • He/she must be a Christian

Qualification and Experience

The desired candidate must possess the following minimum key qualifications and experience

  • Diploma in Project Management or related field (those with a Bachelor’s degree will have an added advantage)
  • At least 5 years of project design and management experience
