The Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) Authority with support from the World Bank is implementing a Skills for a Vibrant Economy (SAVE) Project for 5 years from 2021 to 2025 through the International Development Association (IDA) financing. The Project development objective is to increase equitable access to market-relevant skills in priority areas of the economy, especially for females and vulnerable youth. It is anticipated that the impact of the project will support Malawi’s human capital development for a vibrant economy, equitable growth, and development through improved youth skills in key areas of the economy.

Employment opportunities have now risen within the TEVET Authority – Project Department for the positions of Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning (ME&L)Officer, and Project Assistants for which the Authority invites suitably qualified professionals to apply.

Job Title: Projects Assistant (4)

Department: Projects Division

Reports to: Head of Projects and Development

Location: Regional Service Centres

Purpose of the Job:

To support the implementation, management, and coordination of donor-supported projects at regional level and act as the focal desk and liaison person for TEVET Authority projects at regional level.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Projects and Development in ensuring that Project activities are implemented in accordance with the work plan and approved budget;
  • Initiates and maintains linkages with Non-Governmental Organizations and other stakeholders;
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of the project.
  • Assist in facilitating the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Assist in managing projects resource allocations
  • Assist in planning and scheduling project timelines
  • Assist in tracking project deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Assist in implementing and managing project changes and interventions to achieve project outcomes
  • Manages project data and generates periodic project implementation and monitoring reports;
  • Report challenges encountered for quick redress by relevant authorities;
  • Assist in developing programme evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the project and identify areas for Improvement
  • Provides support on emerging issues.
  • Participate in resource mobilization initiatives such as proposal development.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Rural Development, Economics, Agriculture economics, or related field.
  • At least 2-3 years working experience in Project Management and Coordination;
  • Have demonstrable skills in computerized Project Planning, Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation;
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the TEVET Sector;
  • Be a self-motivated team player and of high integrity,
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills.
