MANEPO is a consortium of civil society organisations whose aim is to help older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives in Malawi. 2. PROJECT OFFICERS (2)

Purpose of the role: To provide overall leadership and coordination for ensuring the implementation of project activities and achievement of objectives in line with the donors’ project document as well as MANEPO’s vision, goals, values, and approaches.

Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Lead and coordinate the development of work plan and implementation of field activities
  • Regularly review progress against the work plan, resources, and delegation of responsibilities to ensure appropriate progress against project activities
  • Continuously assess project’s contexts, assumptions, and changes in the working environment to ensure that projects’ focus, strategies, and activities remain relevant
  • Supervise, lead, and support all community project implementation teams
  • Manage budget in line with financial policies and procedures
  • Monitor project expenditure, ensuring spend is within budget and that the project is delivered in a cost-effective manner

Credentials & Experience

  • At least 3-5 years’ work experience in development programming, with some senior experience at management level
  • Bachelors (or preferably Masters) Degree in Social Sciences, Business Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • History of working effectively and respectfully with external actors, including local authorities, and civil society actors.
  • Proven experience in collecting and using routine data to systematically assess and re-plan project activities
  • Strong people management skills, ability to effectively lead and supervise staff
