World Relief Malawi invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:
Job Title : 3x Project Officers
Reports to : Projects Coordinator
Location : Machinga, Balaka and Mangochi
ROLE PURPOSE
The primary function of the Project Officers is to ensure that all project activities implemented by WRM in the districts contribute significantly towards the graduation of vulnerable households into sustainable livelihoods. The responsible officers will work with other key stakeholders from Machinga, Balaka and Mangochi. The incumbent will assist in the coordination of project activities and resources including volunteers and ensure achievement of project deliverables within agreed timeframes at the community level.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mobilization and awareness raising with local leadership
- Mobilization of community groups
- Preparation of periodic operational plans
- Preparation of progress reports
- Facilitate the development and implementation of project plans and budgets in collaboration with Project Coordinator;
- Coordination of field level human, financial and material resources of the project to ensure efficient resource allocation and utilization for all components;
- In liaison with the Project Coordinator, facilitate quarterly project technical reviews and planning meetings with the volunteers
- Maintain close links with the appropriate Government Departments and other organizations (including NGO’s) implementing Social Protection and Economic Development related projects in the districts;
- Managing teams of volunteers
- Entering quarterly savings groups data into Savix MIS
- Monitoring project activities to ensure smooth project implementation
- Coaching and mentoring of volunteers to ensure that they achieve their targets and realize program goal
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of Advanced Diploma in Community Development or Bachelor’s degree in Community Development or equivalent
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- At least 2 year of experience in similar position
- Experience in working with busy local or international organization
- Knowledge and experience of the Ultra Poor Graduation Models
- Practical experience and or ability to work effectively with relevant governmental ministries, donors, partners, community leaders, and other non-governmental stakeholders preferred
- Proficiency in writing technical and programmatic reports
- Computer skills
- A blend of professional practice and projects management including understanding on project quality assurance standards
- Experience of financial planning and expenditure monitoring as well as budget management
- Experience of community participation, ownership and empowerment.
