Project Officer
Women’s Coalition Against Cancer (WOCACA), is a locally registered non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2013 to complement Government’s efforts in the fight against cancers and other Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Malawi. WOCACA’s vision is to create a vibrant society free from the burden of cancers, where all women, girls, and their families can thrive and enjoy a life of health and wellbeing.
In order to efficiently and effectively execute its mandate, WOCACA is inviting applications from suitable qualified individuals for the following vacant position of Project Officer tenable in Lilongwe: –
Title of Post: Project Officer
Duration of Contract: 2- year contract with the possibility of annual renewal based on performance and funding.
Summary Role of Project Officer:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Project Officer serves as an important project team member in WOCACA responsible for helping in designing projects, proposal developments/resource mobilization, coordinating the implementation of project activities; development of work plans in line with the scope of work and ensure that targets are achieved aligned with WOCACA’s vision, mission and objectives.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Support the Executive Director and other staff to design new projects and write grant proposals, inclusive of budgets and work plans to submit to potential donors and partners.

Support the coordination and implementation of assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with WOCACA program quality.

Help in advocacy strategy as aligned with WOCACA’s vision, mission, and objectives.

Help foster and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders such as governmental bodies, NGOs, community leaders, communities and the media to advance WOCACA advocacy agenda.

Help in designing and executing community awareness and education programs strategy

Help writing reports and highlight any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules to/for WOCACA donors/ partners.

Support presenting WOCACA/project highlights at meetings and forums/conferences nationally and internationally.

Support project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on good practices.

Any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/management from time to time.
Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

A degree in Public Health, Community Development, Nutrition or a related field.

Proven experience in project design and management

Experience in working in public health systems, community engagement, Nutrition and/for an NGO would be a plus.

Knowledge on Non-Communicable Diseases and Mental Health would be a plus

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proactive, results/service-oriented and manage change.

Teamwork skills/ experience in leading teams and adaptability to changing environments.

Strong knowledge in computer use (Microsoft, Excel, Power Point, Apple Products).
