ABOUT THERE IS HOPE

There is Hope (TIH) is a Christian Non-Governmental Organization which was registered under the Malawi Trustees Incorporation Act on 31 December 2007. We are a member of NGO Board and CONGOMA (Council for Non-Governmental Organizations in Malawi).

With a private grant from the Bauer Charity through Welthungerhilfe Malawi (WHH), TIH is implementing an 18-month project called Skill Up! TIH is therefore looking for a Project Officer to assist in implementing the project at its Vocational School at Lilambwe opposite Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa. Those who meet the job requirements can apply and only shortlisted candidates will be shortlisted for interviews.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of all assigned Skill Up! project activities as outlined in the work plan in line with TIH program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities, project, and local partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
  • Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to work plans and implementation schedules.
  • Coordinate implementation of project activities, identify project needs and develop a detailed timeline for implementation.
  • Monitor project expenditure and create financial reports for the Programs Manager.
  • Work within budget constraints.
  • Oversee Skill Up instructors and training.
  • Represent the Skill Up! Project in working committees on Adult Learning and Education and Advocacy.
  • Coordinate and oversee working relationships with all project stakeholders and serve as the liaison between the project team and other stakeholders to promote project activities and impact.
  • Assist the Communications Officer with documentation of case studies, promising practices, and impact stories.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning:

  • Manage database to ensure accessibility and reliability of project information.
  • Support compliance with agency and donor MEAL requirements.
  • Provide input to MEAL system design and review discussions.
  • Supervise quality data collection and management activities.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Education or Social Science.
  • Minimum of two to three years of relevant project/program experience, ideally in the field of
    technical and vocational education, livelihoods, and adult education.
  • A good understanding of the TVET system in Malawi and experience working with formal and
    informal business sectors will be an added advantage.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Ability to write high quality reports and contribute to proposal development.
  • Good relationship management skills and the ability to work closely with local partners.

    building good teamwork spirit.
  • High tolerance rate for working under pressure and dealing with diversified cultures and tense
    situations.
