Introduction

Belgian Red Cross-Flanders (BRC-FL) is looking for a Project Manager that will act as Country Representative and will re-new the partnerships and projects with Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS).

We are looking for a person with experience in humanitarian aid and project management.

Jobdescription

The Project Manager represents Belgian Red Cross-Flanders (BCR-FL) towards the Malawi Red Cross Society (MRCS), donors and other humanitarian actors in the field.

You report directly to one of the regional Program Manager, and will work in close cooperation with the staff and volunteers of the Malawi Red Cross Society.

In your role as Project Manager, will be responsible for the general project management of the bilateral project between BRC-FL and MRCS which focuses on Disaster Preparedness, Climate Adaptation, Blood Banking and First Aid. Besides the project management tasks, you will represent BRC-FL in Malawi towards RC Movement Partners, Belgian and Flemish government and other partners. For both targets, you will work in close collaboration with MRCS staff.

BRC-FL counts on your skills in the following areas: project planning and management, communication, detailed financial follow-up, stakeholder management and representation of BRC-Fl in Malawi. End-to-end accountability as a technical project manager is a key driver to success.

Project Management:

  • Responsible for delivering technical project activities within budget and schedule.
  • Monitor compliance with procedures, resource usage, and documentation.
  • Manage stakeholders effectively.

Representation:

  • Thoroughly familiarize with the strategy, policies and activities of Malawi Red Cross Society and share this knowledge with BRC-FL Headquarters.
  • Represent BRC-FL to external stakeholders.
  • Maintain knowledge of funding opportunities.

Monitoring and Documentation:

  • Analyze data for project improvement.
  • Document processes and lessons learned.
  • Ensure timely and quality reporting.

Country Representative:

  • Manage delegation (material and financial aspects).
  • Facilitate positive partnership with MRCS.
  • Develop security framework and handles incidents.

Fundraising:

  • Identify expertise delivery opportunities.
  • Create relevant project proposals and budgets.

Your profile

  • University degree at master level in sciences or economics.
  • Knowledge of disaster preparedness, disaster risk reduction, disaster response, first aid and/or blood banking is a plus.
  • A minimum of three years of project management experience is required.
  • A proven track record in a result-oriented environment is a plus.
  • Fluency in English is a must, both spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of Dutch and French is an asset.
  • Prior experience in humanitarian aid is a big plus.
  • A mindset and knowledge to implement projects based upon evidence-based practice or a strong motivation to do so is expected.
  • You work in a structured and methodical way and are stress resistant.
  • You have a thorough knowledge of the most common software and online tools (e.g. MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint,…).
