Umodzi Holdings Limited (UHL) is a prestigious domestic brand under the name ‘Umodzi Park and Resorts’ (UPR), situated in the heart of Malawi’s capital city, Lilongwe. UHL is a 100% Government-owned company that boasts properties like the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), a five-star hotel and the Presidential Village, which offers world-class accommodation and office rental facilities.
UHL seeks to engage a highly experienced and dynamic Project Manager to oversee strategic projects within its hospitality portfolio;
Job Title: Project Manager | Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Role Overview
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of key projects across UHL’s hospitality properties, ensuring alignment with international 5-star hotel standards.
The role requires strategic planning, risk management, financial oversight and collaboration with various stakeholders to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, execution and completion of projects related to hotel renovations, new developments, and infrastructure improvements, ensuring adherence to international hospitality standards.
- Develop project budgets, manage expenditures and ensure cost-effective use of resources while maintaining quality and efficiency.
- Collaborate with internal departments, external consultants and contractors to ensure seamless project implementation while minimizing disruptions to hotel operations.
- Ensure all projects comply with regulatory requirements, health and safety standards and UHL’s policies, aligning with the expectations of a luxury hotel environment.
- Identify potential risks, develop mitigation strategies and proactively address challenges to keep projects on track and within scope.
Qualification and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution. A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior project management role within the hospitality industry, particularly in international hotel projects.
- Strong understanding of luxury hotel development, refurbishment, and operational project execution.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi-million-dollar projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget.

- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- High attention to detail with a results-driven approach.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Willingness to work extended hours and travel as required.
