LABackground
The Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu has three main focus areas: a) Pastoral Care; b) Human and Social Development and c) Institutional Development.

Under the Human and Social Development focus area, the main strategic goal is: “To promote sustainable
socioeconomic development among individuals, families and communities in the Diocese of Mzuzu.” Under this focus area, two of the Strategic Objectives are: “To promote human rights, justice and peace including child and women protection in the communities the church serves” and “To improve access to and quality of education at all levels in the Diocese.”

It is for this reason that the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu is calling for applications to fill the vacant positions as
follows:

Post: Project Field Officer
Duty Station: St Cecilia Parish in Mpherembe/ St
Joseph Mkasa Parish in Hewe – Rumphi
Reports to: The Projects Officer and Project Accountant
Department: Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP)

Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP), an advocacy arm of the Church in the Diocese of Mzuzu with support from Misereor in Germany is implementing the Right to Education for Girl-Child Advocacy Project (REGAP) in 4 parishes namely, Holy Family, Holy Cross, St Cecilia and St Joseph Mkasa.

Responsibilities:

Facilitate participatory review, planning, monitoring and evaluation meetings with project volunteers, beneficiaries, priests, catechists and other key stakeholders;
Facilitate capacity building workshops for project volunteers, parents and guardians and girls advocacy clubs;
Oversee execution of work plans and documentation of project outputs and outcomes;
Analyze social cultural beliefs, attitudes and practices to generate evidence for advocacy and lobby in order to promote gender equality and right to education for girls;
Track indicator performance of all project objectives and suggest remedial approaches for specific indicators whose performance is undesirable;
Account for project activity funds and submit liquidation reports to the Projects Accountant on time;
Document project activity reports, quarterly, bi-annual and annual report and timely submission to the projects Officer;
Any other duty assigned.
Requirements

A dedicated Christian with a minimum qualification of Diploma in Gender and Community Development;
Ability and hands-on experience in data analysis with Excel and SPSS in relation to indicator performance tracking;
Demonstrable commitment to Catholic Values and knowledge of the Catholic Social Teaching
Demonstrable ability to work with priests and nuns.
Ability to ride a motorcycle in hard to reach areas
