
Association of Malawian Midwives
The Association of Malawian Midwives (AMAMI), a Malawian registered non-governmental organization established in 1997, with a mission to advance and safeguard interests and welfare of midwives in providing quality midwifery services to improve maternal and newborn health outcomes in Malawi, is looking for highly qualified candidates to fill the above listed vacant positions at its Secretariat based in Lilongwe. Details for each position are as follows:
Programme Officer
Candidates must:
- Possess a university degree in the health, social or management and development fields.
- Be mature, aged between 35 to 45 years
- Have 5 – 10 years progressive experience in a busy organization
- Dealing with maternal, newborn, child, adolescent health and gender,
- Have a comprehensive skills set and strong experience in programme development and management
- Be strongly familiar with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), data analysis, indicators and targets.
- Additional qualifications in project management and strong writing and presentation skills will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of the NGO sector
- Knowledge of programmatic policies influencing the health outcomes for mothers, newborns, the
underserved / underprivileged communities - Technical expertise in all aspects of maternal health
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- High professional maturity as well as integrity and leadership skill
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Confident and competent in strategic planning and management
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Inter-cultural understanding and open attitude towards feedback.
Nature of Work and Conditions
All these positions will be full time on contractual basis, initially for 2 years and renewable subject to work performance, achievement of deliverables and availability of funds.
