Beyond Our Hearts Foundation

Beyond Our Hearts Foundation organization was established in 2014. Its main objective is securing rights of the poor and marginalized, promote good governance, enhance sustainable livelihood development through promoting people’s participation at all levels of the state and society.

According to the organization’s policy, special emphasis is given on women and children participation in building poor people’s capacity towards disaster risk reduction and climate resilience.

BOHF with funding from Save the Children Italy is looking for experienced individuals to fill the vacant posts as follows:

Programme Manager (Neno District)

Programme Manager who will work closely with and reports to the Executive Director and be responsible for providing operational leadership in project designing/planning and implementation and manage performance of the projects and project teams. He/She will ensure adherence to overall technical and programmatic quality in implementation, compliance with donor rules and regulations, and the timely and quality submission of all deliverables, including work plans, performance monitoring plans, reports as required, as well as budgeting and budget management.

THE KEY ROLES OF THE PROGRAMME MANAGER

  • Will be responsible for all steps of the project implementation and other relevant interventions, including conducting relevant field assessments; implementation of Emergency Food Security and Livelihoods activities, monitoring and reporting on current and future projects.
  • She/ He also provides technical support and capacity building to partners and/ or BOHF staff; and is an active member of relevant coordination mechanisms (cluster meetings, working groups, DCPC, DEC, DNCC, Etc.)
  • Creating long- and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines
  • Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project
  • Serving as a point of contact for teams when multiple units are assigned to the same project to ensure team actions remain in synergy
  • Communicating with executives or the board to keep the project aligned with their goals
  • Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected
  • Adjusting schedules and targets on the project as needs or financing for the project change

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  1. Project management
  • Conduct in-depth field needs assessments including in the field of livelihoods and protection.
  • Implement food security/livelihoods programs: cash and voucher programming, seed and tools distribution, training of partners and contractors and staff on technical itineraries, income generating activities
  • Ensure technical standards are followed
  • Ensure proper mainstreaming of protection, gender, environment & climate change, COVID-19
  • Humanitarian Programme Budget monitoring
  • Humanitarian Programme Team and volunteer management.
  1. Project and strategy development
  • Develop concept notes and project proposals and budgets and participate in fundraising. This includes project design and leading the development of project proposals, together with other members of the BOHF team.
  • Participate to consolidating BOHFs presence and advise on partnership and programmatic opportunities.
  • Ensure project compliance to BOHF and donor requirements, and reporting.
  1. Reporting
  • Produce donor and internal reports and other program documents (Monthly, Quarterly and Activity reports etc.)
  • Monitor and ensure timely reporting on the implementation of Localisation Drive project.
  1. Capacity building
  • Recruitment, training, capacity development and management of programme staff;
  • Provide capacity building and technical assistance to the implementing partners and / or BOHF staff with focus on accountability policy and practice, cash transfer programming, market assessment, NFIs and other areas, as needed.
  1. Internal and external coordination
  • Share relevant information with other departments (Administration and Logistics, Finance, Human resources, Program development and others)
  • Coordinate as requested by the Executive Director with relevant district and national technical fora, national civil society organizations, clusters, donors, national and local authorities and other stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • A relevant academic qualification, at Bachelor’s degree level or equivalent in development studies, sociology, Humanitarian action, agriculture, rural economy, community development, project management or other relevant topics
  • Minimum 4 years of experience, preferably in complex humanitarian environments
  • Strong and proven experience in field need assessment (& analysis) and development, proposal and budget development for donors, donor reporting
  • Strong experience / involvement in coordination
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Strong communications skills, both spoken and written
  • The ability to mentor, coach and develop staff
  • Experience with fund raising, networking, donor liaison and coordination
  • Strong analytical skills and capacity
  • Strong ability to plan, coordinate and lead processes that include multiple stakeholders and interests
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability – experience in working in Neno district or any hard to reach areas will be an added advantage.
