The Opportunity
Save the Children (SC) is seeking to hire a Programme Coordinator for Teacher Professional Development to provide technical support in defining and implementation of the Teacher Professional Development component of NORAD Framework Agreement (2024 – 2028) locally known as Tikwaniritse and Kuteteza Ma Ufulu a Ana (TiKuMA) programme. The incumbent will also support DTED, the consultant for Teacher Professional Development and Save the Children to design and rollout of impact evaluation for the Teacher Professional Development. The role will be under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Manager, NORAD Framework Agreement (2024-2028), with matrix management reporting to the Component Lead for Teacher Professional Development at DTED, and will collaborate with Technical Coordinators for Education, ASRHR, Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, the MEAL Manager, and the Awards and Finance teams.
The role holder will be expected to prepare and manage activity advances for all activities under the Teacher Professional Development component of the Education Pillar of the TiKuMA Program
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
To be successful, you will bring/have:
- Possession of a Master’s degree in education or any relevant area with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education or University Certificate in Education is an added advantage
- Practical experience working with MoEST and in in-service Teacher Training preferred.
- At least five years’ demonstrated experience in provision of technical, leadership and/or management oversight in implementation of education programmes focusing on Inclusive Education, Literacy and Numeracy using relevant Common Approaches
- Firm grounding in capacity strengthening for local organisations for basic education and quality improvement in education with a special focus on primary education.
- In-depth knowledge of government and non-government actors and frameworks.
- Solid experience in award management including budget management and monitoring
- Experience in national and field level representation with key stakeholders and co-ordination with other NGOs/UN, donors and Government.
- Demonstrated technical understanding of Education Common Approaches including Enabling Teachers, Literacy Boost and Numeracy Boost
- Experience in developing and implementing effective partnerships with Civil Society Organization partners, government entities, other NGOs and donors
- Prior experience and knowledge in randomised control trials will be an added advantage
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail in operational processes
- Strong engagement skills with a wide range of government, non-government and a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in a cross-cultural context.
- Demonstrated strong analytical and writing skills and experience preparing quality communication products for stakeholders, clients, and officials.
- Proficiency in English and Chichewa languages, both written and oral
