INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Civil Society Organizations Nutrition Alliance (CSONA) is a coalition of over 180 civil society organizations consisting of local and international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) working to ensure sustained improvements in nutrition in Malawi, and provide support to government’s effort in scaling-up nutrition. CSONA is affiliated with the Global Scaling-Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement which Malawi officially launched in 2011. CSONA aims to facilitate CSOs to take a leading role in influencing and supporting government efforts in the pursuit of successful roll-outs of national nutrition interventions through. CSONA operates at national level and level through its members who are spread across the districts. CSONA’s mission is to coordinate efforts of civil society Organisations in scaling up nutrition through capacity building, advocacy and knowledge exchange for a healthy and productive Malawi.
CSONA seeks to recruit recent graduates (2019 to 2022) on a 6 months’ internship program in order to provide an opportunity for professional development through on the job training. CSONA intends to engage the interns to support on programs and communication aspects for its current projects.
Program Officer Intern (1 position)
Qualification Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Behaviour Change Communication, public policy and Public Health is preferred.
  • To succeed as a CSONA Programs Officer, the candidate should be able to think creatively, and have excellent communication, public speaking and interpersonal skills coupled with a good knowledge of National, regional and global nutrition policies, strategies and commitments.
Major tasks for the programs Officer (intern) will be but not limited to the following:
  • Organise trainings, advocacy events, workshops, meetings, briefings, and other events, working with relevant stakeholders and partners at both the national and district level
  • In close consultation with the Program Manager, liaise with relevant government institutions, counterparts, NGO and CBO partners with the objective of effective implementation of the program activities
  • Support program manager in networking and coordination of the CSONA national and District chapters
  • Preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly reports as necessary.
  • Support in case studies and success story documentation as well as documentation for best practise and sharing with members
  • Write newsletter items for CSONA communications
  • In collaboration with the Communications Officer and M and E Officer, develop and disseminate learning’ materials, including Internet-based learning documents and resources and articles for CSONA newsletter and social media pages.
  • Assist in the development of monitoring and evaluation tools, collect regular monitoring data on activities of civil society actors in nutrition, and prepare reports for the CSO nutrition network members
  • Regular district coordination with CSONA members
  • Update and manage database for CSONA members
INTERNSHIP ARRANGEMENT
The interns will be expected to work at the CSONA secretariat office based in Lilongwe.
RENUMERATION
The Project and Communications intern will be supported by a daily transport allowance for ease of mobility from home to office and back. CSONA will not provide any salary to the successful interns. However, the intern will receive allowance based on approved donor rates if assigned to work out of duty station.
INTERNSHIP DURATION
The successful candidates will be engaged into internship program for the period of 6 months from the start date of the internship.
