Introduction

The Catholic Development Commission (CADECOM) – in the Archdiocese of Blantyre is a relief and developmental arm of the Archdiocese of Blantyre under the Episcopal Conference of Malawi. It is mandated to ensure that development and relief services within the Archdiocese of Blantyre are implemented according to the Catholic Social Teaching (CST). CADECOM, therefore, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced Malawians to fill the following vacant posts in its Land Restoration program to be implemented in Neno District

Program Coordinator

Job Purpose

To ensure full facilitation in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Land Restoration program in CADECOM Blantyre.

Organisational Relationship

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programs

Major Tasks and Activities

  • Coordinate actual implementation and reporting of project/programme activities at the District level.
  • Build capacity of Archdiocesan project/program officers and other implementing partners in various approaches for effective implementation of projects/programmes.
  • Facilitate timely collection of monitoring and evaluation data, analysis and dissemination of reports to management and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate documentation of project/programme processes at the community level
  • Facilitate project/programme learning and dissemination of better practices/stories of change to management and key stakeholders.
  • Conducting monitoring of project/programme implementation by Archdiocesan staff
  • Develop IEC materials for the various projects/programmes.
  • Source and share relevant technical information with project/programme staff.
  • Creating awareness for success stories of communities and documenting the same.
  • Preparation program budgets for the project in liaison with the Finance department.
  • Any other duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Environmental health or Social sciences with emphasis in rural development, project management or any relevant field.
  • At least five years of professional experience in implementing/managing integrated development programming, with knowledge of practices in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience implementing/managing programs related to the Environmental protection, Livelihoods, Land Restoration, Gender, and Value Chain.
  • Demonstrated skills in M&E design with previous experience in application of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Fluency in English and at least one locally spoken language in Malawi.
  • Excellent oral and written analytical communication skills, ability to work well with people, use good judgment and commit to CADECOM’s mission.
  • Computer literate (MS Office, PowerPoint), must be competent in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within or outside the Archdiocese to interact with staff and sometimes project beneficiaries.
  • Previous NGO experience for two or more years preferred.
  • A committed Christian.
