Program Summary

The New-born Essential Solutions and Technologies (NEST360) program at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences continues to support the Ministry of Health (MoH) in Malawi in implementing and scaling up comprehensive small and sick new-born care (SSNC) through innovative lifesaving technologies, provision of both technical and clinical capacity-building, implementation of clinical and technical educational programs, and building of a sustainable distribution network. The main purpose and focus of NEST360 Phase 2 program is on sustainability. To achieve these, NEST Project Phase 2 is inviting suitably and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position available at the Project:

  1. Programme Coordinator (1 Position)

Job Summary

The Programme Coordinator will be responsible for Supporting the day to day management of NEST360 Program activities as well as supporting country leads/ liaison in coordination, organisation, program, and financial reporting of program activities across all technical areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the day to day management of NEST360 Program activities.

  • Supporting country leads/ liaison in coordination, organisation, program, and financial reporting of program activities across all technical areas.

  • Facilitating timely implementation of project activities by leading the coordination of program operations and logistical support.

  • Collaborating with Country Liaison in planning of field activities

  • Preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly programmatic implementation plans as per the program work plan

  • Facilitating timely implementation of activities

  • Supporting the programmatic team by organizing the central project filing system to ensure the integrity of official documents, including correspondence with the Ministry, donors, and other partners.

  • Contributing to documenting and disseminating project success stories during routine programming

  • Assisting in reviewing processes and timely reconciling payment documentation from trainers, program, technical and management staff as well as consultants

  • Providing support in the analysis of reports received from field sites, including financial reports.

  • Archiving primary program records according to governing policies.

  • Leading weekly internal meetings, Monthly internal learning sessions and other team meetings.

  • Collecting notes and reports for documentation and follow-up.

  • Promoting effective communication within the team making sure each member is well-informed and aligns with Program goals, objectives, and desired results

  • In consultation with the program administrator/management, conducting regular updates of partners’ and stakeholders lists and make them available to staff.

  • Traveling as appropriate to project sites to assist in program logistics and implementation.

  • Liaising with Program Administrator to facilitate purchase of necessary office furniture and supplies for staff seconded to MOH.

  • Supporting performance assessment of the thematic leads as per organization policy including 360-degree feedback from Program leadership.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health discipline or related area;

  • Additional education qualifications in program management will be an added advantage;

  • Extensive knowledge of Maternal and Newborn Health care services in Malawi;

  • Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position;

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in MS Office;

  • Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams;

  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills;

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;

  • Ability to be well-organized and to delegate work where appropriate;

  • Excellent networking abilities.
