VACANCY

MACADAMIA PRODUCTION MANAGER

Tropha Estates Limited is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Manager to join our dynamic team in Rumphi and Mzimba. This role is pivotal in executing the directives of the General Manager and overseeing the day-to-day operations of approximately 250 hectares of Macadamia. The successful candidate will manage Field Supervisors ensuring that all agricultural activities are conducted efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the General Manager’s agricultural strategy
  • Coordinate and drive good crop productivity, prioritising quality
  • Ensure consistent soil management, spraying practices, nutritional programs, and integrated pest management
  • Monitor planned annual agricultural activities
  • Oversee timely harvesting and processing to minimise quality impacts
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to climate, pests, or quality
  • Set productivity benchmarks and KPIs for Field Supervisors
  • Promote a safety-first approach and ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies
  • Ensure proper scheduling, operation, and maintenance of irrigation systems
  • Drive maximum efficiencies and minimum water usage
  • Ensure effective application of nutrients and chemicals through testing, scouting, and monitoring
  • Track and control production costs within budget parameters.
  • Conduct performance reviews and identify training needs for Field Supervisors.
  • Manage employee welfare and address grievances in conjunction with HR.

Qualifications, skills and Knowledge

  • Degree in Agriculture or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in agricultural management, preferably in orchard management.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
