Procurement Officer

Malawi Gaming Board/National Lotteries Board (MGB/N LB) is a parastatal body responsible for regulating the gaming and lotteries industry in Malawi.

PROCUREMENT OFFICER (GRADE MGB 5)

Position Summary

The Procurement Officer will report to the Finance Manager and he/she shall be responsible for providing guidance, support and planning requirements of procurement and disposal functions of MAGLA. He/she shall ensure business continuity at all times and align the business with statutory and regulatory requirements.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Prepare procurement and disposal plans and reports for the organization;
  • Prepare bidding documents;
  • Facilitate Internal Procurement and Disposal Committee (IPDC) and ad-hoc Evaluation Teams meetings, in liaison with the IPDC Chairperson;
  • Act as the secretariat to the meetings of the IPDC and ad-hoc Evaluation Teams;
  • Process procurement requisitions and manage bids requests and submissions;
  • Track purchase orders and deliveries to ensure quality and timely deliveries;
  • Keep records of all procurement and disposal activities carried out by the organization;
  • Evaluate simple low value procurements as prescribed in the Public Procurement and Disposal Act;
  • Prepare contract documentation and manage the resultant contract in conjunction with relevant departments; and
  • Perform any other relevant and lawful duties as may be reasonably assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Wide experience and knowledge of procurement practices in Malawi
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Matured and team player

Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience

  • Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain or related field from an accredited University
  • Proficient computer skills especially Microsoft Excel
  • Registered member of the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply
  • At least 4 years proven work experience in procurement
