POSITION: PROCUREMENT & LOGISTICS OFFICER
Location: Balaka
Job Summary:
We seek an experienced Procurement & Logistics Officer to manage end-to-end procurement of spare parts (local/international) and oversee import customs clearance. The role ensures efficient sourcing, order execution, delivery, and payment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Procurement Management:
- Source, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for spare parts (local & international).
- Issue POs, track orders, and ensure on-time delivery to the plant.
- Negotiate terms, costs, and contracts to optimize value.
Import Logistics & Customs:
- Manage end-to-end import clearance, documentation (bills of lading, certificates), and compliance with Malawian regulations.
- Coordinate freight forwarding, shipping, and inland transportation.
- Resolve customs delays and minimize demurrage costs.
Operational Execution:
- Verify supplier invoices and process payments accurately.
- Maintain procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies/local laws.
- Monitor order status and ensure seamless handover to user departments upon delivery.
Stakeholder Coordination:
- Liaise with suppliers, freight forwarders, production teams, and finance.
- Report on procurement progress, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience: Minimum 3 years in procurement and import logistics (manufacturing/industrial preferred).
Skills:
- Proven expertise in end-to-end procurement cycles and Malawi customs procedures.
- Proficiency in international shipping terms (Incoterms), MS Office/ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
