Fuel Crops Demeter Ltd, Trading as “Balaka Beef, is a company in the meat production industry with a beautiful, well managed Ranch, a first-class abattoir and butchery situated along the banks of Shire River in Balaka.

Balaka Beef is looking for ambitious and motivated candidates to join their team for the two upcoming retail outlets and processing plant to be opened in Lilongwe.

Processing/Shop Manager – 3 Positions

Responsible for cutting and preparing meat, managing inventory and supply budgets, and ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are met. Providing Customer service by often resolving customer complaints and providing product recommendations. Additionally, managing department operations, which can involve hiring. training, and scheduling staff, as well as maintaining accurate records. Expertise in using various meat department equipment and proficiency in computer and math skills are also essential.

Key responsibilities:

• Provides exceptional customer service to internal & external customers, both in person & via phone:
• Manages departmental staff, this may include some or all the responsibilities listed below:
  • Administers employee policies to maintain consistency throughout the department and store.
  • Approves timecards for payroll and/or creates staff schedules in accordance with established timeframes.

• • Conducts performance evaluations and pay increases, addresses complaints, and resolves problems with staff in a timely manner.
  • Supervision of staff in the shop and meat processing unit
  • Maintains knowledge of purchasing SOPs to purchase, as delegated, in the absence of the Operations Manager.
  • Coordinates,
    supports, and prioritizes
    daily production plans to ensure the day’s production is completed
  • Ensures the day-to-day operations of the meat department run smoothly; adjusts workflow as needed. Ensures production and shrink are accurately recorded
  • Ensures displays and signage are aesthetically appealing, accurate, and consistent with the company standards.
  • Ensures department SOPs are followed and are in line with industry best practices and health and safety

• Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandate by the Malawi Bureau of standards.
• Process and receive customer payments and orders for meat products using POS system for customers who buy on Account.

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:

• Diploma in hospitality and Food Processing
• Proficient computer skills, primarily MS Word, MS
• Outlook and MS Excel, to create formulas.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Flexibility to work long hours, including weekends and holidays.
