Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacancy in the Health Department of CCAP Synod of Livingstonia-Embangweni, and David Gordon Memorial (DGM) Hospitals.

Job title : Principal Hospital Administrator (2)

Grade : G (Government Salary Scale Segment)

Reporting to : The Hospital Director

Location : Embangweni and David Gordon Memorial (DGM) Hospitals

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic direction to the hospital, defining goals and setting targets in liaison with Departmental heads.

  • Supervising the accountant and scrutinize financial reports

  • Ensuring adequate interpretation and implementation of hospital human resource policies and procedures

  • Coordinating the development and advancement of hospital manpower and chairing some hospital committees.

  • ensure regular inspection and maintenance of the hospital buildings, control equipment and medical supplies

  • Supervising the provision of office support services and ensuring the availability of resources and facilities.

  • Representing the hospital management on all hospital administrative matters.
  • Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all resource departments and services of the centre, including personnel, financial, facilities, equipment and supplies.

  • Taking a leading role in developing the budget for both the hospital and health centres.

  • Responsible for developing and directing the implementation of policies and programs in the resource departments and services of the Centre.

  • Acting as the chief advisor to the Hospital in charge of the development and implementation of the centres’ programs, policies and procedures.

  • Promoting and maintaining effective public relations with governmental and community agencies and individuals

Qualification and Experience

  • A minimum of Degree in Business Administration and Public Administrative Studies from a recognized institution of higher learning.

  • Minimum of five years experience in a busy organisation

  • Ability to interpret human resource policies and financial reports

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills,

  • Those with experience in the health sector will have an added advantage

  • Applicants should be conversant with the Malawi Labour Laws and have up-to-date conflict resolution skills

  • Have strong analytical and time management skills

  • be conscientious and result-oriented

  • Applicants must be mature, responsible committed and practicing Christian
