Primary School – Teaching Assistant Vacancy

(starting in February 2025)

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic teaching team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Consideration will be given to applicants with relevant qualifications and experience in education, which will be reflected in the TA salary scale. They could include but are not exclusive to:

  • Level 2 Award/Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
  • Level 3 Award/Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification.
  • A diploma in child education (e.g. diploma in Montessori teaching).
  • An undergraduate degree (this does not necessarily need to be directly related to education).
  • You will also need to pass an enhanced background/police check.

EXPERIENCE:

The successful candidate should have some relevant school experience in supporting Primary age children. They should be an active listener with strong communication skills in English. They should be a collaborative team member who is able to respond to the needs of individual learners and provide feedback with empathy and understanding which reinforces self-esteem and promotes learning. The successful candidate should have an interest in continuing their personal and professional development in the field of education. They should be IT literate and, if possible, have a working knowledge of Google Suite applications. Experience in Special Educational Needs provision would also be an advantage.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will have the ability to collaborate, create and maintain an orderly and supportive environment, which promotes learning and well-being as well as undertaking administrative tasks as needed to support teaching and learning in the classroom and around the school.
