Blantyre Water Board
Blantyre Water Board is a government-owned institution established and reconstituted under the Waterworks Act of 1995 to supply potable water to residents of the City of Blantyre City and other surrounding areas. Blantyre Water Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following vacant positions:
PLANT OPERATOR
Applicants must have the following attributes:
- At least Grade I National Trade Test Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Part II City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical/mechanical Engineering or related field
- At least two (2) years proven work experience
- Leadership skills and Organization skills
- Ability to exercise own initiative and judgment
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-starter and innovative.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
a) Operating pumps according to set procedures;
b) Dosing chemicals for treatment and purification of water appropriately
c) Back washing water treatment filters when required
d) Recording plant and equipment data: – amperage, voltage, power factor and pressure gauges
e) Monitoring and recording water levels from the source and reservoirs
f) Carrying out all operational activities in accordance with the Board’s Safety Policy
g) Performing any other duties assigned from time to time.
