Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi SFFRFM

Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) was incorporated in 1988 as a Trust Fund under the Trust Incorporation Act of 1992 to procure, store, distribute, and sell fertilizers to smallholder farmers. Its primary role was to ensure that smallholder farmers, defined as farmers who grow their crops on customary land have an opportunity to access and buy affordable fertilizer at all times. The Fund is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates of Malawi origin to fill the following posts:

PLANNING, MONITORING AND EVALUATION OFFICER

Department: Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation

Grade: F5

Reporting to: Senior Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

Responsible for: N/A

Tenable: Head office (Ulimi House, Blantyre)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

A Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring strategic plans to achieve the Funds’ goals and objectives. This role involves analyzing market trends, competitive intelligence, and internal data to develop recommended strategies for the Fund. The Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation officer works closely with senior management to align planning efforts with the overall strategic direction of the Fund.

Overall, the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation officer plays a critical role in guiding the strategic direction of the Fund and ensuring alignment between planning efforts and business objectives.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic planning initiatives to support business growth and profitability.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities and threats in the industry.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather input for strategic planning processes.
  • Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators to track progress towards goals and objectives.
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations to senior management on strategic planning efforts.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts based on strategic plans.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance planning efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in corporate planning to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks for programs and projects.

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Business or Agricultural Economics, Business Administration or any related fields.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, corporate strategy, or business development.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and
    make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, familiarity with strategic
    planning tools/software and technology tools.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and
    build relationships across departments.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
