Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST)

The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is responsible for procurement, warehousing, sales and distribution of quality medicines and medical supplies to all public health facilities in Malawi. To effectively meet its mandate, the CMST seeks to fill vacant positions, with persons with strong proven passion for good corporate governance, a high measure of tested financial and moral integrity and free from past convictions by a court of law of criminal offences as follows:

POSITION TITLE : PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
GRADE : MS6
REPORTING TO : PHARMACIST (MS5)
LOCATION : LILONGWE AND MZUZU

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Supporting the managing and coordinating of supplies and managing personnel and pharmaceutical matters in the warehouse.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Guiding supplies and personnel on pharmaceutical matters in the warehouse;
2. Ensuring products are distributed following the first to expire first out’ principle;
3. Observing and reporting storage conditions in the warehouses;
4. Spot-checking product shelf lives and physical attributes of the same;
5. Verifying stock availability before issuing out;
6. Verifying requisitions whether they are admissible and MEDL/MSTG compliant;
7. Ascertaining that products are adequately packed, appropriately separated and are accorded the necessary transport conditions before being delivered to health facilities;

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Qualifications:
A Diploma in Pharmacy or its equivalent obtained from a recognised institution and should be a member of the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA).

Experience and skills:
1. At least three (3) years’ experience working in a similar industry
2. Excellent mathematical skills;
3. Attention to detail;
4. Ability to multitask, set priorities, work independently and within deadlines
5. Knowledge of records management procedures;
6. Knowledge of assigned program activities guidelines and processes;
