POSITION TITLE: OPERATIONS MANAGER
REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
LOCATION: LILONGWE
DUTIES SUMMARY
As the Operations Manager at Simama Transport, you will oversee the seamless coordination and efficiency of the Logistics, Workshop & Maintenance, Procurement, and Warehousing departments. Your role involves strategic planning, team leadership, process optimization, supplier management, and ensuring quality standards are met across operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Coordination: Ensure efficient coordination between department heads to meet operational objectives.
- Logistical Support: Oversee orchestration of dry and wet cargo demands, collaborating closely with the Logistics Manager and systems coordinators.
- Workshop & Maintenance: Strategize maintenance plans for vehicles based on logistical demands, working to minimize breakdowns and optimize fleet efficiency.
- Procurement Management: Assist in sourcing spare parts, managing inventory, and ensuring timely procurement to support workshop activities.
- Warehousing Oversight: Monitor stock levels and parts consumption to avoid depletion and maintain operational readiness.
Reporting Structure
The Operations Manager reports directly to the Operations Director. In the absence of the Operations
Director, the Operations Manager reports to the Managing Director. Key departmental heads, including Logistics Manager, Workshop Team Leaders, Procurement Officer, and Warehousing Officer, report to the Operations Manager.
Prerequisites
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in supply chain management and logistics operations.
- Experience in technology utilization for data analysis and process optimization.
- Background in quality management and continuous improvement.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum two years’ experience in operations management, including workshop, logistics, and
procurement responsibilities.
