About the Role

Purpose:

The Operations Manager will oversee the effective management of branch banking operations, ensuring operational risk control, exceptional client experience, and cost efficiency. The role includes supervising the Anti-Money Laundering/Counter Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) program, managing the centralized processing unit, and leading a team through proactive performance management and coaching.

Key Result Areas:

  1. Oversee Branch Banking Operations
  • Ensure branch operations comply with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Mitigate operational risks by implementing and monitoring risk control measures.
  • Enhance client experience by streamlining branch processes and addressing client feedback.
  • Monitor and control operational costs to maintain profitability.
  • Periodic review and updating of relevant policies and procedures in line with business process improvements and regulatory requirements.
  1. Supervise Implementation of the AML/CFT Program across the Branch Network
  • Supervise the implementation of the Know Your Customer (KYC) program.
  • Conduct periodic reviews for High Risk, Medium Risk, and Low Risk customers to ensure compliance with AML/CFT regulations.
  • Update policies and procedures based on regulatory changes and internal reviews.
  1. Supervise Centralized Processing Unit
  • Review and authorize exceptional transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage capacity to handle transaction volumes efficiently.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain high standards in transaction processing.
  1. Manage People
  • Provide leadership and coaching direct and indirect reports.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement performance improvement plans as necessary.
  • Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

About the Candidate

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study from a reputable university or college.
  • Working experience in operations of a financial institution (banking or microfinance) 5 years, with 2 years as a supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience and knowledge in banking operations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication skills including presentations and report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Intermediate skills in personal computer operation, word processing and spreadsheet program, Knowledge of Power Point is an advantage.
