Job Description

To ensure the integration, adoption and application of the relevant BCC Africa China strategy and related toolbox(es) that will facilitate increased trade between country and China and grow market share of trade flows between country and China. To ensure the integration, adoption and application of the relevant Business and Africa China strategy and related toolbox(es) to grow market share within the Chinese ecosystem in country i.e. Chinese businesses and employees of Chinese corporates and businesses.

Qualifications
  • First Degree in Business Commerce
  • Must have passed Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Level 5 Language proficiency exam.
  • Ability to speak Mandarin fluently.
  • 3-5 working experience.
  • Previous portfolio management experience servicing a portfolio for Business or Commercial Banking clients.
  • Experience in a Branch sales and/or service role would be an added advantage.
  • Experience in preparing Credit motivations and understanding of lending principles.
  • Extensive business banking expertise is essential as well as significant experience in dealing with credit and international trade solutions.
  • Past experience in dealing with the public sector and Chinese community is preferred. Past roles that required extensive stakeholder engagement for success would also be beneficial.

Key responsibilities

  • Track, monitor and report on Africa China milestones, penetration of new to Bank in selected companies, across industry sectors, etc.
  • Provide input into the development of a holistic Africa China strategy for Business and Commercial Banking that will aggressively grow the customer base (i.e. Chinese businesses; increased trade (volume and value) between Africa and China; Chinese customers acquired through Chinese ecosystems).
  • Provides a comprehensive view of economic, macro, and micro economic conditions in order to help shape the Africa China strategy.
  • Drive delivery of upfront agreed targets in conjunction with Country stakeholders for Africa China.
  • Identify key Chinese businesses and clients and develops solutions to unlock value chain opportunities.
  • Make client level pricing trade-off decisions within the defined guidelines and parameters.
  • Act as SME to country teams on matters related to Africa China (i.e. conducts viability studies to formulate action plans to regularize business or exit with limited bad debt).
  • Adhere to the defined partnership framework for third party vendors for the provision of value-added products and services in support of the Africa China strategy.
  • Support customer facing staff in positioning Africa China Trade Flow solutions to Commercial and Enterprise Customers in growing our Chinese business portfolio by engaging Chinese businesses with them.
  • Engage Chinese corporates and other Chinese businesses in order to execute on strategy to bank more employees in the Chinese ecosystem.
  • Adhere to specific acquisition and relationship management tactics for the Chinese environment.
