VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
OFFICE ASSISTANT – HNTI
The Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS) is a comprehensive health and allied sciences higher learning institution established with the primary function of training health workers under one roof in order to promote inter-profession collaboration, team building and team work from early days of training.
The Helse Nord Tuberculosis Initiative (HNTI) is a collaborative programme between KUHeS and Helse Nord RHF of Norway. HNTI supports collaborative and multidisciplinary tuberculosis (TB) research within the KUHeS with the long-term goal of building local scientific research capacity that is sustainable, internationally excellent and that makes a direct contribution to local and international TB diagnostic capacity control policy and practice.
The project wishes to engage an Office Assistant to be based at Blantyre Campus. Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified individuals to apply for the position.
The office assistant will work full-time under the following conditions:
Job Summary
Reporting to the HNTI Administrator, the Office Assistant will provide support to the administration team for effective and efficient management of the HNTI office activities. The post holder will be employed on a one-year fixed-term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Making sure the office is always kept clean and tidy
2)Operating office machines and supporting staff in photocopying office documents
3)Assisting with filing of office documents
4)Assisting with purchasing of office supplies e.g tea’s, cleaning materials
5)Assisting with collection of project supplies at the University stores
6)Assisting with project inventory periodical checks
7)Assisting with submission and follow up of payment requests
8)Distribution of mails and supplies in all HNTI offices
9)Supporting organization of project meetings and workshops
10)Running various errands for the project as required
QUALIFICATIONS
1) Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
2) Experience as an office assistant or in a related field.
3) Ability to work well under limited supervision
GENERAL ATTRIBUTES
The ideal candidate should have the following attributes:
Ability to write clearly with basic computer skills such as email, word and excel
Ability to work in a team
Excellent communication skills
Warm personality.
