Local Government Service Commission is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians for the following vacancies existing at Nsanje District Council
Post: Nursing Officer
GRADE: I/M7
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Midwifery OR In Pediatric Nursing OR in Community Nursing OR obtained from accredited Institutions and be registered with the Nurses and Midwife Council of Malawi.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and implement quality psychiatry nursing care using the nursing process;
- Perform activities of daily living for the patients 24 hours/day;
- Collaborate with other health workers in meeting specific needs of the patients;
- Adhere to standard precautions of infection prevention and control practices;
- Build therapeutic relationship with patients, guardians and fellow health workers;
- Document and maintain accurate records of all mental health/psychiatric nursing care activities performed;
- Maintain professional code of conduct at all times;
- Develop ward/department policies in consultation with other multidisciplinary team members;
- Monitor that all health workers comply with quality standards of care;
- Supervise Nurse midwives, students and subordinate staff; xi. Conduct performance appraisal for subordinates and make
- recommendations accordingly;
- Compile weekly and monthly duty rosters for the ward.
