Reporting to the Nursing Director.

Position Overview:

A Nurse In-charge is a team leader in the nursing department responsible for provision of quality nursing and comfort to patients, in accordance with the hospital and nursing regulatory standards and policies. Beit -CURE Children’s Hospital is recruiting Nurse In-charges with excellent leadership and communication skills to provide care for patients, as well as supervise, offer guidance and support to nursing team. The position holders will also be responsible for ensuring a clean and safe working environment as well as ensuring that all operational tasks are completed efficiently and on time.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Administration- Assessing overall needs of individual patients and allocating available resources and nursing staff responsibilities appropriately, providing adequate supervision and guidance where necessary.
    • Maintaining up to date record (inclusive of bin cards) of all drugs and hospital consumables as required by pharmacy and ensuring that rules and regulations governing the administration, storage and custody of all drugs, particularly narcotics are followed at all times.
    • Providing and participating in clinical education for all staff.
    • Allocating manpower resources by making monthly work schedule and ensuring that department has balanced staffing.
  • Nursing care- Ensuring nursing processes are  followed in provision of nursing care (Assessment. Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) as well as maintaining continuity of care through handover of reports.
  • Overseeing Departmental Quality and Patient Safety Activities – Assumes the daily organizational responsibility for quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Team Management: Assessing the department’s manpower needs and supporting in recruitment process as well as team disciplinary processes.
  • Team Support – Planning and developing individual personal and professional development activities for the team as well as team building activities annually.
  • Accountability – Conducting monthly accountability meetings and documenting minutes, in order to address departmental issues, provide feedback and assess progress.

 

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s degree and a current license to practice nursing required.
  • A minimum of five years nursing experience with at least two years in supervisory role.
  • Those with experience in pediatric or/and orthopedic nursing will have added advantage.
  • Computer literate – those with experience working with Electronic Medical System will have an added advantage.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
