OPCO Limited is one of the leading Construction Company that deals in Building Constructions, Civil Engineering and Plant Hiring in Malawi and invites applications from well qualified and experienced personnel to fill the following vacant positions.
Site Agent (Location – Blantyre)
Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for;
- Supervising and overseeing the direction of the project, ensuring that the client’s specifications and requirements are met, reviewing progress and liaising with quantity surveyors to monitor costs
- Coordinating and supervising construction workers
- Selecting tools and materials
- Checking and preparing site reports, designs and drawings
- Maintaining quality control procedures
- Writing reports and keeping on top of paperwork
Capabilities and qualification
The applicant must have;
- A proven track record of good site managerial skills and well experienced in construction of all buildings including multistorey buildings.
- A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or any related field from a well-recognized institution of higher learning regulations
- Five (5) years’ experience in construction projects
- Good knowledge of building methods and regulations
- Must be a self-starter, focused, innovative, honest and with good interpersonal skills
Environmental, Social, Health and Safety Officer
(Location – Blantyre)
Responsible for evaluating, planning and implementing environmental and safety issues
Duties
- Ensuring that all Environmental, Social, health and safety procedures are being documented, followed and filed efficiently.
- Ensuring that all staff members adhere to safety procedures.
- Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors by ensuring that all ESHS information is known to all parties.
Capabilities and Requirements;
- Proven ability in analyzing environmental, health and safety matters and give corresponding reports against the same.
- Carry out impact assessment for environmental, health and safety awareness with regard to construction industry.
- Good project management skills
- Should have a knowledge of project proposals
- Bachelors’ degree in environmental science or its equivalent from a well-recognized institution.
- Must be a self-starter
- Person with at least five (5) years’ experience in a similar role will have an added advantage
Building Foreman (Location – Blantyre)
Responsible for supervising construction and civil works.
Capabilities and Requirements;
- Proven experience in foremanship and ability to set construction targets.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil or structural engineering and service engineering drawings or details.
- Must be proficient in supervising and maintaining a busy construction site.
- Minimum Grade 1 certificate in bricklaying or City & Guilds Technician Diploma in Construction or its equivalent obtained from reputable training institutions. Those with NCIC Certificate in Foremanship (Level 1) will have an added advantage.
- Must be trustworthy, willing to work occasional long hours and must showcase good workmanship.
- Minimum Ten (10) years’ experience in a similar job.
- Willing to re-locate
Head Bricklayer (Location – Blantyre)
Candidates must have;
- Grade one National Trade Test Certificate in
Bricklaying - Ability to produce excellent bricklaying techniques at all levels with super finishing capabilities
- Willingness to work on odd hours
- More than 3 years of experience in a similar position
Head Carpenter (Location – Blantyre)
Candidates must have:
- Trade test grade one in carpentry and joinery
- Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar field
- Must have an ability to use carpentry tools
- Must be willing to work odd hours
Plumbers (Location – Blantyre)
Responsible for any plumbing duties assigned by the site engineer.
Capabilities and Requirements
- Proven experience as a plumber in using a variety of plumbing equipment
- Experience in using both electrical and manual tools
- Ability to read, understand and interpret architectural and plumbing drawings plans
- Grade one trade test Certificate in plumbing or its equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working as a plumber or similar
Painters (Location – Blantyre)
- Must be highly skilled for the position
- Those with experience in the position will have an added advantage
- Must be willing to work during odd hours
Site Clerk (Location – Blantyre)
Duties
The successful candidates will be assigned to;
- Compile and prepare daily reports.
- Provide admin duties and clerical supports to site personnel.
- Maintain store administration.
Capabilities and qualification
- Candidate must have proven track record of working on a construction site
- Must have a minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and ability to speak and write in English
- Must be very attentive to details
Tyre Fitter (Location – Blantyre)
- Must have a trade test certificate in General fitting
- Proven experience in checking and adjusting vehicle tyres and wheels
- In-depth understanding of Tyre pressure, wheel alignment as well as balancing and rotation
- Must have adequate experience in similar position
