VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Ntchisi District Council is inviting applications from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the following vacancies existing at Council as follows:
1. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT (GRADE M/M11)
Location:Ntchisi District Council Community Development Traditional Authorities Various
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Works with communities to promote functional literacy and other community development initiatives, including infrastructure projects
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
The successful candidates will be expected to carry out the following duties:
1. Controls and supervises of functional literacy instructors.
2. Prepares Estimates, bills of materials, feasibility reports of self-help project and checks critical points of self-help projects
3. Teaches local leaders, functional literacy instructions, home craft workers during courses, workshops and seminars.
4. Assists instructors and local leaders in the organization of functional literacy Centres, presentation of certificates formation of functional literacy committees and establishing rural information Centres.
5. Prepares daily work plans and write monthly reports on work programs and maintains records for the same.
6. Advises local leaders in planning, organization and execution of self-help projects.
8. Ensure safe-keeping of home economic equipment and other equipment provided
by Government or other stakeholders for community development programs.
9. Responsible for assessment of functional literacy learners.
10. Assists the Home Economics officer in planning, organizing and implementing home economic programs.
11. Organizes, maintains home craft classes and participates in displays and Agriculture shows and other promotional events.
12. Perform any other duties assigned to him/her by responsible officer.
MINIMUM ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Malawi School Certificate of Education and a Certificate in community development from a recognized institution.
2. PHYSICAL PLANNING ASSISTANT (GRADE M/M11)
Location: Ntchisi District Council- Headquarters
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
The successful candidates will be expected to carry out the following duties:
1. Update plan drawings.
2. Fill master copies, maps and plans
3. Maintain register for printing activities.
4. Plot planning information on maps and plans
5. Make models
6. Controlling illegal developments
7. Care and maintain printing machines.
8. Any other relevant duties that may be assigned from time to time.
MINIMUM ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Candidate should be Holders of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with credits in Mathematics and Geography.
3. WATER MONITORING ASSISTANT (GRADE M/M11)
Location: Ntchisi District Council- Water Department
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
The successful candidates will be expected to carry out the following duties:
1. Sensitize and mobilize communities in water supply and sanitation activities
and disseminate gender, hygiene, sanitation and health messages.
2. Collect, analyze and report data on water supply and sanitation.
3. Facilitate participatory water site selection
4. Monitor community financial management for operation and maintenance activities.
5. Organize and monitor rural water supply committees.
6. Perform other related works as required and any job assigned from time to time by the District Commissioner
MINIMUM ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess Malawi School Certificate of Education with credits in the following subjects; Mathematics, Physical Science, Biology and Geography.
4. LANDS ASSISTANT (GRADE M/M11)
Location: Ntchisi District Council- Headquarters
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
The successful candidates will be expected to carry out the following duties:
1. Assisting in processing of all lease applications
2. Assisting in processing of land acquisition by Government
3. Assist in Process all applications for consent to assign mortgage change and
sub-lease of land
4. Cooperate with institutions on matters affecting land in liaison with Lands Officer
5. Assist in Monitoring the purchase and sales of freehold land customary estate
6. Revise from time to time all the forms used by the Department in land transactions
7. Present tittle deeds for stamping and registration and making searches in the Deeds and land registries
8. Responsible for updating electronic Land Records relating to tittle and deed registration
9. Perform other related works as required and any job assigned from time to
time.
MINIMUM ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must be holders of Malawi School Certificate of Education and a Certificate in Land Administration or Land Management (Estates Management) or Property Law, obtained from recognized institution.
5. DISEASE CONTROL & SURVEILLANCE ASSISTANT (GRADE M/M11)
Location: Ntchisi District Council- Health
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES;
The successful candidates will be expected to carry out the following duties:
1. Serve as link between fixed District Health Services and the community and works directly with village/community leaders, workers and other volunteer’s in providing environmental and personal health services in collaboration with Medical Assistant, Health Assistants and Enrolled Community Health Nurses.
2. Conducts community assessments, village inspections, monitors growth and reports disease outbreak.
3. Participates with others in providing immunization, maintaining equipment and
improving the quality of water by protecting shallow wells and chlorinating untreated water.
4. Treating minor ailments and facilitates formation and training of Village Health
Committees (VHCs) and Volunteers.
5. Supervises VHCs and volunteers and refers patients and suspect to nearest health unit.
6. Record data in relevant registers and instruments using HMIS guidelines disseminate to respective Village Health Committee, and report to the designated supervisor.
7. Prepares monthly work plans.
8. Provides feedback to the community.
9. Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.
MINIMUM ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess Malawi School Certificate of Education with credits in the following subjects; Mathematics, Physical Science and Biology.
