VACANCIES

Ntcheu District Council is inviting suitable qualified Malawians to fill the following vacant posts that exist at Ntcheu District Council as follows:

1. PAINTER

GRADE: HP/M13
NO. POSTS: 2
SALARY: Within the Grade HP/M13 Salary Scale Segment

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have a certificate in painting or equivalent from a well-recognized institution and those with relevant work experience will have an added advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All the prospective candidates will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Should have a certificate in painting from a well-recognized and those relevant work experience will have an added advantage.
  • Paint interior and exterior of buildings; equipment and surfaces including athletic courts and fields; and stripe parking lots.
  • Stain or paint cabinets, doors and other furniture and fixtures such as lockers, fences, and other equipment.
  • Recommend the selection of colors and purchases paint for district needs.
  • Performs wallpapering.
  • Prepares cost estimates.
  • Prepare various interior and exterior surfaces such as wood, concrete, metal, glass, plaster, brick and cement for painting.
  • Operate and maintain appropriate equipment and tools for painting, removing paint or graffiti, patching holes, sanding or roughing slick surfaces.
  • Use and maintain brushes, rollers or spray guns to apply a variety of surface coverings such as paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, lacquer or other protective or decorative finishes.
  • Mix paints to match, blend, coordinate or contrast colors.
  • Erect, move and work from ladders, scaffolding and platforms.
  • Apply primer, undercoats and finish coats as needed.
  • Plan, organize and layout assigned tasks; prepare and maintain records and reports related to materials used and graffiti incidents; order and obtain supplies and materials as needed.
  • Serve in a lead capacity on painting projects and as a member of a crew on other maintenance projects as needed and as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

2. MOTOR VEHICLE DRIVER

GRADE: N/M12
NO. POST:4
SALARY: Within Government grade N/M12 salary scale segment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a valid Driving License and be a holder of Junior Certificate of Education. Candidates with a Motor Vehicle Mechanics Trade Test Certificate Will have an added advantage. Serving officers who have a Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of 8 years working experience are encouraged to apply.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Driving government vehicles with staff on tarmac roads and off roads
  • Cleaning government vehicles.
  • Making sure that the vehicle has all valid papers.
  • Reporting of any fault to the transport officer
  • Carrying out minor maintenance of the vehicle.
  • Any other duties assigned

3. HOSPITAL ATTENDANT

GRADE: HP/M13
NO. POSTS : 2
SALARY: Within the Grade HP/M13 Salary Scale Segment

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be holders of Junior Certificate of education.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sweeping, mopping and dusting in the wards and offices
  • Serving food to patients.
  • Collecting and delivering drug issues from pharmacy.
  • Escorting referred cases to hospital centres or units or areas.
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post.

4. SECURITY GUARD

NO. POST: 18
GRADE:P
AGE:30 to 40 years
REPORTING: Head Security Guard
SALARY: Within grade P salary scale segment

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be a holder of JCE.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guard office premises and its surrounding
  • Ensure proper handover and takeover of office premises
  • Report any security of personnel and property
  • Report any security breach to the Human Resource Officer
  • Clean office surrounding as may be directed by the supervisor
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

5. COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

GRADE:M
NO. POST:5
AGE: 25 to 35 years
SALARY: Within grade M salary scale segment

QUALIFICATION

Applicants must be a holder of Certificate in Community Development or Certificate in Social Work obtained from well recognized institution.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Control and supervise adult literacy classes
  • Train community leaders, adult literacy instructors project management and other development committee in an area.
  • Monitor and supervise self-help projects and other community development projects
  • Facilitate organization of adult literacy classes, presentation of certificates, information of adult literacy committee and establishment of rural community information centres
  • Prepare reports and submit to the district community development officer
  • Assist community leaders in planning, organizing and implementation of self-help projects
  • Organize and mobilize communities for community development activities
  • Organize, train and supervise business VSL/COMSIP group or clusters
  • Plan, organize and implement home management and nutrition activities
  • Assisting in appraising the performance of a cluster supervisors, adult literacy instructor, community-based teachers and other community volunteers
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other extension workers in the area
  • Facilitate formation and training of development structure at community level e.g., village development committee, village civil protection committee, village nutrition coordinator committee and area development committee.
  • Work hand in hand with community volunteer in execution of community programs

6. DISEASE CONTROL AND SURVEILLANCE ASSISTANT

GRADE: HM/M11
NO. POSTS : 5
SALARY: Within the range of Grade HM/M11 salary Scale.
AGE: 18-35 years

QUALIFICATION:

Malawi School Certificate of Education with a minimum of two credits in any Science Subjects which includes Mathematics, Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry and Agriculture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as link between fixed District Health Services and the community and works directly with village/community leaders, workers and other volunteers and providing environmental and personal health services in collaboration with Medical Assistant, Health Assistant and Enrolled Community Health Nurses
  • Conducts community assessments, village inspections, monitors growth and reports disease outbreak
  • Participates with others in providing immunization, maintaining equipment and improving the quality of water by protecting shallow wells and chlorinating untreated water
  • Treating minor ailments and facilitates formation and training of Village Health Committees (VHCs) and Volunteers
  • Supervises VHCs and volunteers and refers patients and suspect to nearest health unit
  • Record data in relevant registers and instruments using HMIs guidelines
  • Disseminate to respective Village Health Committee, and report to the designated supervisor
  • Prepares monthly work plans
  • Provides feedback to the community
  • Any other duties deemed reasonable for the post

7. SENIOR HEAD HOSPITAL ATTENDANT

GRADE:N
POST:1
SALARY: Within grade N salary scale segment

QUALIFICATION

Serving officers with not less than four years at Grade HO.

DUTIES

  • Supervises subordinates
  • Mops wards and corridors
  • Removes cobwebs
  • Receives handover from the knocking of staff
  • Prepares and sends lines to laundry
  • Assists patients with bed pan when necessary
  • Dump dusting/scrubbing walls, window cleaning
  • Assists with Infection Prevention activities e.g. preparation of Chlorine, decontamination of instruments, emptying of bins/ sharps container
  • Decontamination of wheel chairs and patient trolleys
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

8. HEAD HOSPITAL ATTENDANT

GRADE:0
POST: 2
SALARY: Within grade O Salary Scale
LOCATION: Various Health Centers

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be serving Hospital Attendant with 4 years experience and must be under
Ntcheu District Hospital.

DUTIES.

  • Allocation of duties to hospital attendant
  • Preparing and monitoring of duty roster for hospital attendants.
  • Daily supervision of Hospital attendants.
  • Sweeping, mopping and dusting in wards and offices.
  • Collection and delivering drugs from the pharmacy upon instruction.
  • Washing and changing beddings for the patients.

9. ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

GRADE: M/M9
NO. POSTS : 14
SALARY : Within the Grade M/M9 Salary Scale Segment

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants must have a diploma in accounting or business studies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare expenditure cashbook
  • Check ledgers
  • Post transactions
  • Any other relevant duties as assigned from time to time
