National Bus Services Limited is under-going rebranding, restructuring and reorganization of its operations which has necessitated in the invitation of applications from suitably qualified, skilled and experienced candidate to fill the vacant positions which are tenable at its Head Office in Blantyre. The successful candidate will be reporting to the General Manager.

1. ACCOUNTANT

Job purpose

To analyse and report on Key Financial Data within the organization ensuring that the General Manager receives timely, accurate and relevant information.

 

 

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Ensuring financial transactions are posted, reviewed and all miscoding and ineligible costs are cleared
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations
  • Maintaining creditors and debtors’ registers
  • Preparing cash control accounts.
  • Providing Bank Facility Report for the Company on daily basis.
  • Developing and controlling a centralized accounting system to ensure that accounts are effectively managed.
  • Ensuring compliance with Company’s policy on all financial issues.
  • Assist in preparing annual budget
  • Monitoring and ensuring that expenditure levels are in line with the budget and planned activities
  • Any other duties assigned by management from time to time.

 

Qualifications, attributes and experience

  • Degree in the field of accounting,
  • At least 4 years working experience in a busy working environment
  • High levels of integrity, honesty but also a quick learner
  • Good computer skills with the ability to work with spreadsheets, accounting software packages
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of safeguarding risks
  • Experience of managing staff within the Accounts Department
  • Professional attitudes towards work
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Sound and up to date knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS)

2.  Accounts Assistants  x2

Job purpose

The successful candidate will be required to analyse and report on Key Financial data within the organization ensuring that the Group Management Accountant receives timely, accurate and relevant information

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Filing & safekeeping of payment vouchers and all petty cash documents
  • To produce timely and reliable Management Accounts reports on a monthly basis.
  • To provide Bank Facility Report for the Company on daily basis.
  • To develop and control a centralized accounting system to ensure that accounts are effectively managed.
  • To investigate variances against budgets and provide analysis of differences.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Maintaining payments and receipts cash books
  • Ensuring financial transactions are posted, reviewed and all miscoding and ineligible costs are cleared
  • Preparing monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts
  • Maintaining ledgers-fixed assets, cash and journal entries
  • Maintaining creditors and debtors’ registers
  • Preparing cash control accounts
  • Ensuring compliance with Company’s policy on all financial issues
  • Preparing all tax returns as prescribed by applicable Malawian rules like VAT, WHT, PAYE, TEVET, Income tax etc.
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors in preparation of statutory audit and period end closure process

Qualifications, attributes and experience

  • Minimum of Diploma; Degree preferred, in the field of accounting,
  • At least 2 years working experience in a busy working environment
  • High levels of integrity, honesty but also a quick learner
  • Good computer skills with the ability to work with spreadsheets, accounting software packages
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of safeguarding risks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrate capacity and willingness to learn- open to learning new ways of doing things
  • Professional attitudes towards work
  • Friendly, customer service orientation
  • Sound and up to date knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS)

 

 

3. Parcel Coordinator/courier Service Manager

Duties and responsibilities

  • Hire, supervise, coach and evaluate couriers.
  • Eensuring that all deliveries are made on time
  • Asigning routes or jobs to individual couriers and operating within the constraints of a budget
  • Follow up invoices for credit customers and payments
  • To handle customer claims and complains.

Qualifications, attributes and experience

  • Holder of Business Administration Degree or Diploma with 3 years’ experience in Courier services
  • Knowledge of transport business
  • Must have good leadership skills and ready to lead a team of courier staff
  • Computer knowledge is a must
