POSITIONS: MONITORING, EVALUATION, LEARNING & MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR (1)
Background
The Civil Society Education Coalition (CSEC) is an alliance of 84 diverse independent and voluntary organizations including nongovernmental organizations, community-based organizations, trade unions, and faith-based organizations that promote quality education in Malawi. CSEC complements government efforts in piloting innovations, coordinating non-state actors, shaping policy discourse, lobbying for increased budget allocation, and tracking the utilization of resources committed to the education sector.
It is fully registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP 5:03), and is a member of both the Council for Non-Governmental Organizations in Malawi and the Non-Governmental Organization Board of Malawi.
CSEC is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position based at its Secretariat in Lilongwe.
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Membership Coordinator
Contract Type: Three-year contract, renewable subject to continued need of the position and availability of funds.
Reporting to: The Programme Manager
Key Responsibilities
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop and manage systems for monitoring programme and project performance.
- Track progress against project objectives and indicators.
- Maintain data collection tools and organize information for easy access and reporting.
- Prepare and update project dashboards showing key achievements and trends.
Learning and Adaptive Management
- Support regular review meetings to assess progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Help update the organization’s Theory of Change and learning strategies.
- Collect and document lessons learned and best practices for internal and external sharing.
Reporting
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual monitoring reports for various programmes.
- Support the development of summary reports, case studies, and success stories.
Research and Evaluation
- Assist in identifying key research areas to inform programming.
- Draft Terms of Reference (ToRs) and work with consultants on evaluations and research.
- Ensure research findings are practical and relevant to CSEC’s work.
Membership Coordination
- Maintain an up-to-date database of CSEC member organizations.
- Coordinate member engagement activities, including meetings and communications.
- Support capacity-building for CSEC members in M&E and related areas.
Capacity Building and Collaboration
- Provide basic training and technical support on M&E to CSEC staff and partners.
- Promote data and learning exchange with local and international partners.
- Foster cross-project collaboration to improve programme quality.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education, M&E, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in M&E and learning within civil society or development organizations.
- Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting tools.
- Experience with civil society networks or membership organizations is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Strong computer literacy, including MS Excel, Word, and relevant data tools.
