The Trustees of Agricultural Promotion Programme (TAPP) is a local Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered under the Trustees Incorporation Act of Malawi (1962) registration number RG17665/1/1 and has been a member of CONGOMA since 2006 and NGO Board since 2011. TAPP is guided by its mission statement which aims to ‘create spaces for farmers’ continued learning and growth in their practice of sustainable farming while ensuring their improved livelihoods and healthy living.
TAPP implements development projects in livestock and crop value chain; climate change mitigation and adaptation; and Gender and Development. In addition, it builds the capacity of rural communities to ensure food and nutrition security, efficiently utilize natural resources, improve livelihoods, and reduce poverty.
TAPP would like to engage the services of the following.
Position: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Location: Lilongwe
Reporting To: The Head of Programs
Duties and responsibilities
Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Head of Programs the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will lead the monitoring and evaluation and research initiatives in TAPP.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will:
- Be responsible for the roll-out and management of project monitoring and evaluation system and projects reporting requirement
- Coordinate and ensure the quality of all M&E capacity-building activities
- Facilitate analysis and use of information for the decision-making process and feedback process to enhance project delivery
- Maintain a database for all project indicators
- Play a pivotal role in the implementation of projects that will include ongoing gathering of qualitative information, success stories, and other relevant information in close liaison with the Programs Officer
- Provide support to consultants to conduct evaluations as and when required
- Conduct data quality assessment visits and participate in joint supervisory visits with particular focus on improving the monitoring systems and quality and completeness of data collection, analysis and feedback systems through on-site coaching.
- Compile monthly, quarterly and annual project reports
- Undertake any other duties as determined by the Head of Programs.
- The M&E officer shall be required to participate actively in the proposal development
Qualifications and Skills
- At least Bachelor’s Degree in the either of the following programs agricultural economics, data science, statistics, computer science, economics, or econometrics, from a recognized University
- Minimum three years experience working in the M&E area and managing M&E activities
Prefered Skills:
- Working knowledge of various computer-based analytical tools and databases
- Experience in coding surveys in online platforms such as Kobo Kollect, ODK, and Survey CTO
- Mature and analytical thinker
- Fluent in statistical software such as STATA, R, and SPSS
- Excellent spoken as well as written communication skills in English and Chichewa
- Must be self-motivated, innovative and be able to meet targets in a timely manner
