love, respect and security. We achieve this through building families for children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities.

We support children who have lost parental care and those at risk of losing parental care to develop within a caring family environment to their full potential as contributing members of their respective societies.

We are currently operating SOS Children’s Villages Programmes in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Ngabu.

In this context, we are looking for suitable candidates to fill vacant positions at National Office in Lilongwe, Vocational Training Centre, and Ngabu Programme in Chikwawa District.

The position of Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, is tenable at our National Office in Lilongwe. Under the supervision of the National Programme Director, he/she takes a leading role in the development of
monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems and their implementation.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads the design and implementation of a monitoring and evaluation framework in accordance with the organization’s policies, strategies, and available resources.
  • Leads in ensuring data collection, analysis, and learning activities to help enforce accountability and efficiency from start to finish for all programs and projects.
  • Leads in providing technical field support and capacity building to the programmes to ensure monitoring and evaluation is mainstreamed.
  • S/he may be assigned to focus on supporting one or more specific grants or projects within a programme.
  • Works with other members of the team, as need be, on grant writing and set up, follow up of program expenses and indicators, implementation of processes, standard operating procedures and any other tasks assigned by management.

Qualifications and experience

  • First degree in the Social Sciences, Education, and Development Studies with a strong bias in statistical analysis.
  • At least 4 solid years’ experience working directly in M&E for local or international organizations.
  • Hands-on experience in developing M&E tools and databases
  • Experience with implementing results-based M&E frameworks
  • Sound understanding of child rights, child development, family and community development, rights-based programming.
  • Good communication and reporting skills
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines
