MAINTENANCE PROJECT

Inter Aide began the maintenance projects in 1991 as part of WASH projects. In 2008 the Maintenance Projects became independent and targeted to set up AFRIDEV pump maintenance services in the rural areas.

The project is implemented by Inter Aide in 7 districts (Nkhotakota, Ntcheu, Balaka, Mangochi, Machinga, Thyolo and Phalombe).

M&E ASSISTANT

Duty station: Mangochi, with regular trips to the field and the other districts of intervention.

Purpose of the position

Under the supervision of M&E Supervisor, she/ he will be participating to the Monitoring and Evaluation system of the maintenance projects implemented by Inter Aide. This position will require regular visit activities, and travelling through Inter Aide’s districts of intervention

Major responsibilities

  • He / She must participate to define data which need to be collected.
  • Designs, adapts and updates questionnaire forms and databases, according the field needs.
  • Makes sure that all data requested to be collected are well collected.
  • Ensures that data hard copies, collected through forms, are well compiled and archived properly
  • Ensures that every processed data has its hard copy version well classified at the right place
  • Assisted by the M&E Supervisor and Management team, defines a procedure on data quality checks
  • Organizes regular visits in the different offices in order to ensure back-ups, database quality, monitoring and training.
  • Proposition of surveys corresponding to the needs of the program and
  • Design of the survey in terms of indicators, questionnaire, resources required (HR, Budget, Timeline…)
  • Training of the staff / enumerators in case of needs.
  • Supervising and participating (if needed) to the collection of the data.
  • Participates to the monthly coordination meetings of the teams.
  • Evaluates the performance of data collection done by the staff and reports to management teams.
  • Assists the M&E Supervisor upon request.
  • Leads training to the team and/or enumerators in case of need regarding data collection, databases and mWater
  • Provides accurate data, edits presentations and supporting documents upon request
  • Provides reports: frequent or upon request (district summaries, staff performance and other)
  • Provides assistance on mWater and databases to the staff
  • Participates to the building of the M&E system on mWater (demarcation of Area Mechanics areas of intervention, shops…)
  • Designs forms on mWater upon request (new forms, updated versions, specific forms for specific surveys..)
  • Follows up the “updating of mWater” pilot in Mangochi and Balaka district.

Qualifications, skills and experiences

  • Bachelor Degree in M&E, IT, or Water Resources Management, or any related field.
  • Those with Diploma as indicated above with relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2 years’ relevant experience with development programs will be appreciated.
  • Advanced computer skills in general but specifically very good in Excel is required, GIS and mWater are appreciated.
  • Comfortable with data, Ability to work with different profiles among staff and partners.
  • Good writing and presentation skills for reporting purposes.
  • Motivation to move very often to the field.

Conditions of employment

One-year contract renewable, salary according to the project salary grid, starting May 2024.
