Key Outputs and Accountabilities
1) Carry out microbiological tests
- Develop and periodically review micro sampling plan
- Prepare lab equipment for micro testing
- Do micro sampling and micro plating
- Read, record and report micro results
- Do trend analyses on micro results
- Assist operational staff with resolution of micro issues
- Disposal of micro lab waste in compliance with KORE and applicable legal and regulatory standards
2) Perform GMP audits
- Conduct daily and weekly GMP audits and inspections
- Conduct daily and weekly PRP audits and inspections e.g., pest control inspections, personnel hygiene inspections etc.
- Record and report GMP and PRP audits and inspections issues to initiate corrective actions
- Monitored plant CIP and COP routines
- Monitor CIP and COP activities to ensure effectiveness including confirmation of chemicals concentration and carryover tests including sensory
3) Monitor and enforce compliance to CIP and COP schedules
- Record and report non-conformances to relevant parties for initiation of corrective actions
4) Process Validation
- Participate in process and product validation trials e.g., CIP by developing of trial protocols, resources determination, actual micro testing etc.
- Participate in validation of new micro equipment, micro media, test methods etc.
- Ensure plant participation in Global micro proficiency testing
- Record and report validation trial results and initiate corrective actions as appropriate
- Participate in site HACCP studies as a microbiology subject matter expert
5) External Sampling and Results follow up
- Conduct micro sampling for external analysis according to the set frequency e.g., annual water sampling, product for external analysis etc.
- Review and trend external analysis results and initiate corrective actions in case of out of spec
6) Micro training and coaching
- Conduct and or participate in micro-related training needs assessment and ensure inclusion in training plan for the site
- Deliver micro-related training workshops to build capability on site
- Conduct micro-related on-the-job coaching, and provide support and guidance as necessary
7) Manage costs
- Ensure that all micro laboratory consumables requirements are communicated and planned for as and when required
- Ensure that all micro laboratory equipment are serviced and calibrated as per schedule
- Ensure that all micro laboratory CAPEX requirements are communicated and planned for in the annual budget process according to the standard lab list
8) Micro Lab Safety
- Ensure Safety Systems adherence to standards to prevent any safety related incidents in the micro laboratory
- Conduct risk assessments and inspections and report hazards for the micro laboratory

Skills, Experience & Education |
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Industrial Laboratory Technology, Environmental Science, Food Technology or Industrial Microbiology
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years in a Food Processing environment as a Mircobiologist
