About FAWE Malawi

The Forum for African Women Educationalists in Malawi (FAWEMA) is a registered non- governmental organization which brings together educationalists to support and promote education for girls and women in Malawi. We work in close partnership with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender, Ministry of Youth, Ministry of Health and other Ministries and partners to support girls and women to acquire education and training for development through advocacy and demonstrative interventions.

FAWEMA’s Vision: A self-reliant and inclusive society where girls and women are creative, innovative and skilled for their well-being.

FAWEMA’s Mission: To promote gender responsive policies, attitudes and practices that provide opportunities to girls and women through evidence-based interventions that allow them to prosper.

As a membership organization, FAWEMA has over 700 members in all the 34 education districts in Malawi who promote girls’ education to enhance their opportunities to get dignified and fulfilling work.

To ensure proper coordination of its members, FAWEMA seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed individual to fill the following position:

Position : Membership Coordinator Intern (to be based in Lilongwe)

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Membership Coordinator Intern will perform the following duties among others:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support FAWEMA members in activity planning, implementation and reporting
  • Maintain FAWEMA Membership database.
  • Assist in the domesticating of FAWE Africa Alumni Network Operational Manual to Malawi context.
  • Coordinate FAWEMA alumni membership activities.
  • Support staff in fieldwork for different projects.
  • Report writing on various programming matters.
  • Any duties as assigned by Management from time to time.

Qualifications Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Science, Business Management, Project Management.
  • Those with experience in an education or programmatic set-up will have an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Team player with ability to work as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity with commitment to promote the interests of girls, women and underprivileged young people.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft computer packages.
