
Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority
Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority (PMRA) is a Statutory body created by an Act of Parliament No. 9 of 2019 with the mandate to regulate medicines and allied substances, pharmacy businesses and the practice of pharmacy in Malawi.
In a bid to strengthen human resource capacity in delivering this mandate, the Authority is inviting applications from suitably qualified, highly motivated and experienced persons of Malawi origin to fill various positions tenable at its Head Office in Lilongwe. The following are the details of the vacant positions: –
JOB TITLE: MEDICINES INFORMATION, PROMOTION & ADVERTISING OFFICER
Grade: PMRA 5
Location: Head Office
Responsible to: Compliance and Enforcement Manager
Job Purpose
To participate in the dissemination of medicines information and regulation of promotion and advertisement of pharmaceutical products.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement programs, strategies and systems to facilitate provision of right information on medicine to all stakeholders, pharmaceutical service providers and the general public.
2. Facilitate vetting, approval and monitoring of medicines promotional/advertising materials and labelling to avoid misleading, biased and immaculate information on medicines and allied products from being disseminated.
3. Participate in the development and review of regulations, guidelines, training manuals, SOPs, IEC materials and performance standards
4. To communicate medicine safety information to health practitioners and the general public
5. To vet and monitor medicine promotional and advertisement materials
6. Promote the rational use of medicine
7. Assess and communicate risks associated with both new and circulated medicine and vaccines
8. Submit periodic safety updates on medicines and other pharmaceutical products
9. Develop and maintain good relations with relevant stakeholders in matters of information dissemination and monitoring of medicines promotional materials and labeling
10. Submit periodic progress report
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience
- Registered with appropriate professional body
- Knowledge in areas of medicines information, advertising and promotion
