VACANCY

Holy Family Mission Hospital (HFMH) is under Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM) under the Archdiocese of Blantyre of the Roman Catholic Church. It is situated in Phalombe district. Applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant position below are being invited:

JOB TITLE: MEDICAL DOCTOR {MD} (GRADE H)

Responsible for: Supervising medical department services and making sure that the health services for the hospital are of the high quality.

Main Responsibilities but no limited to:

1. Supervising and appraising Clinical staff
2. Conducting ward rounds on daily basis
3. Reviewing in-patients and out-patients
4. Overseeing all activities within the Clinical Department
5. Making recommendations to the Board of Directors on strategies of improving quality health services
6. Analyzing and interpreting data and compilation of quarterly and annual reports
7. Performing surgeries
8. Order and interpret diagnostic tests
9. Develop and implement treatment plans, including proscribing medications, therapies or surgeries
10. Performing medical procedures such as suturing, intubation, both minor and major surgeries
11. Refer patients to specialists when needed and coordinate multidisciplinary care
12. Maintain accurate and timely health records in compliance with hospital policies
13. Work closely with nurses, pharmacists, specialists and allied health professionals
14. Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatments and preventive care
15. Provide guidance to medical students, interns and residents
16. Participate in continuing medical education and training programs

QUALIFICATION & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

1. The person should be a holder of Bachelor Degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from a recognized training institution and must be registered with the Medical Council of Malawi.
2. Should have good interpersonal and communication skills
3. Ability to work with minimum supervision

Experience

At least 3 years as a general Practitioner in a busy hospital
