MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN (GRADE EG9)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons of Malawi origin to fill the vacant post of
Mechanical Maintenance Technician-EG9 tenable in the company at Nkula Power Station. This post reports to the Senior Mechanical Maintenance Engineer-Nkula.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carrying out planned preventive maintenance on Power Plants and associated and auxiliaries at Power Stations.
- Carrying out breakdown / corrective maintenance on Power Plant and auxiliaries to minimize machine downtime and correct faults before they cause major breakdowns.
- Conducting systematic fault finding on Power Plant i.e. troubleshoot and rectify faults more complex in nature.
- Examining the failed components in order to identify the mechanism of failure and align solution to failure recorded.
- Carrying out Crankshaft alignment to ensure there is no wear and tear of moving components.
- Performing Power Plant condition monitoring checks i.e. perform periodic inspections on plants and auxiliary equipment.
- Checking that replacement parts are available in stores for the efficient execution of all maintenance work.
- Carrying out breakdown maintenance on stand-by diesel generators for government hospitals and provide training to technical staff on the best operational and preventive maintenance practices.
- Carrying out planned preventive maintenance on Power Plants and associated and auxiliaries at Power Stations.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- A holder of an Advanced Diploma in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering obtained from a reputable, well recognized, and accredited institution.
- Must have at least 3 years’ relevant experience in manufacturing, electrical or related industry.
- Should be aged between 25 and 45.
- Physically fit and willing to work odd hours and weekends.
