Lindian Resources Ltd, a leader in the exploration and development of strategic minerals for energy efficiency, has obtained the necessary licenses to launch a rare earths mineral mining project at Kangankunde, Balaka District, Malawi.

Recognized as one of the top hard rock rare earths deposits globally, the site is located about 30 km from the town of Balaka. Construction of a stage 1 development will commence in Q3 2024, with production expected to start in mid-2025. The mine boasts an estimated life of over 100 years with expansion plans following the commissioning of Stage 1. Initial efforts will concentrate on the development of the management and senior team to undertake operational readiness activities
and establishing robust systems to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Exciting mine-based opportunities exist with Lindian Resources as we commence the recruitment of key roles in our organisational structure, these include General Manager Operations, Manager Mining, Manager Plant & Engineering, Manager Environment & Community, Manager Business Services, Senior Mine Geologist, Site Manager and Health & Safety Officer.

MANAGER BUSINESS SERVICES

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The Manager Business Services will be responsible for leading and managing the Finance, HR and IT functions. The incumbent will be required to provide strategic direction, leadership, and management to these departments to ensure that they operate efficiently, effectively and in compliance with relevant legislation.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership across Finance, HR, and IT, developing policies and procedures that align with the Company’s strategic goals, mentoring department heads to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Conduct financial reviews to identify improvement opportunities, manage and optimize budgets, and control costs to enhance profitability.
  • Direct recruitment, retention, and professional development strategies to build and maintain a skilled workforce, managing HR administration and overseeing payroll compliance and legal matters.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of IT infrastructure aligned with business needs and cybersecurity standards, overseeing physical and cyber security frameworks to protect company assets and information.
  • Ensure all operations comply with Malawian legislation and industry best practices, maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including
    regulatory bodies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE

  • A degree in Business Administration, Finance or a relevant field. Advanced degrees or certifications in management, IT, or HR are preferred.
  • At least 15 years’ experience in business support services management, with comprehensive experience across Finance, HR, & IT domains.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution within organizations, with prior experience in the mining industry, particularly in Africa and Greenfields operations, being highly beneficial.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial accounting, management, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Malawian labour laws, international best practices, business strategy execution, and IT infrastructure, including cybersecurity and data management.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with proven financial acumen and strategic planning skills.
  • Exceptional communication abilities for engaging stakeholders and effective team management.
  • Results-oriented approach with strategic thinking, leadership, adaptability, effective communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Registration with relevant HR and IT professional bodies is advantageous.
  • Valid Drivers Licence
