The Human Resource Society of Malawi (HRSM) is a professional body for trained Human Resource Professionals in Malawi. The HRSM was duly registered by the Government of Malawi on 8th August 2018 under the Trustees Incorporation Act (CAP 5:03). The Society’s offices are based in Lilongwe the capital city of Malawi.

Opportunities have arisen in one of our partners, which is one of the tobacco growing and research organizations, for highly motivated professionals with requisite academic qualifications, technical expertise, and experience to fill various existing vacant positions as follows;

Management Accountant

Location: Lilongwe
Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager
Responsible for: Finance Team

Purpose of the position

Production of all management and financial accounting records for timely and informed decision making.

Duties and responsibilities

The incumbent will among other duties perform the following duties and responsibilities: –

  • Design internal controls and ensure adherence.
  • Prepare audited financial statements.
  • Prepare management accounts.
  • Manage external audits.
  • Coordinate the costing of products and services and ensure proper documentation of the same.
  • Ensure that farm operations are conducted efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Manage Accounts receivables and accounts payables.
  • Ensure compliance with International Accounting Standards.
  • Keep a daily back up of accounting data.
  • Supervise the work of the accounts staff by ensuring that the following tasks are done on time:
    – Monthly bank reconciliations
    – Monthly creditors reconciliations
    – Regular maintenance of the general ledger
    – Regular follow up of outstanding debtors
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of documents in support of payments.
  • Administer all tax related duties.
  • Coordinate preparation of the annual budget.
  • Production of all management and financial accounting records

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Accountancy from a recognized University plus a professional qualification, such as ACCA or CIMA.
  • Must be a member of ICAM.
  • Five years practical work experience in a busy accounting office.
  • Hands-on experience in operating Business Central Accounting Package.
