Overview
Jhpiego seeks to recruit a highly motivated Logistics Assistant Intern to be based in Lilongwe. The Logistics Assistant Intern will be part of the Operations team and assist Jhpiego Malawi’s Administration and Logistics Team in various operational tasks. The ideal candidate will assist in Warehouse operations, Fleet management, and Office administration, ensuring smooth and efficient logistics processes.
Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations:
- Assist in receiving, storing, and distributing products within the warehouse.
- Support inventory management, including tracking stock levels and conducting periodic audits.
- Help maintain an organized and efficient warehouse environment.
- Participate in loading and unloading shipments as needed.
Fleet Management
- Assist in scheduling and coordinating vehicle maintenance and repairs. Assist in fuel liquidations for project vehicles.
- Support vehicle inspections for both Jhpiego project and hired vehicles.
- Help maintain records of fleet activities, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance logs.
- Monitor vehicle utilization and assist in optimizing fleet operations.
- Communicate with drivers regarding schedules, fuel top-ups, vehicle supplies, and any operational issues.
- Assist in following up on vehicle repairs, IORs, and POs.
Office Administration
- Support the logistics and administration team with administrative tasks such as data entry, both manual and digital filing, and report preparation.
- Assist in managing correspondence and responding to inquiries related to logistics operations.
- Collaborate with other departments to streamline logistics processes and improve communication.
- Help maintain accurate records and documentation for logistics activities
Required Qualifications
- Recently graduated from a relevant degree program (Degree in Logistics, Transport Economics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) Diploma or Advanced Diploma)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
