Blantyre Water Board
Blantyre Water Board is a government-owned institution established and reconstituted under the Waterworks Act of 1995 to supply potable water to people of Blantyre City and other surrounding areas.
Blantyre Water Board is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position for a fixed period of two years:
Applicants must have the following qualifications and attributes:-
- Diploma in Industrial Laboratory Technology or related field
- Malawi School Certificate of Education
- At least three (3) years proven work experience in industrial laboratory
- Wide Knowledge of good laboratory practices.
- Knowledge of use of various types of laboratory instrumentation
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Organization skills
- Good communication skills both oral and written
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Collecting and analyzing water samples;
- Adhering to water quality set standards by conducting physical, chemical and bacteriological analysis of water samples;
- Monitoring of pollution in the catchment area as well as carrying out periodic inspection of pollution in the Shire River and Likhubula River:
- Maintaining residual chlorine in the reticulation according to set standards;
- Boosting chlorine levels in service reservoirs;
- Calibrating and maintaining laboratory equipment;
- Updating daily laboratory water test results on public notice board and online platforms:
- Ensuring proper care of all instrumentation in the laboratory:
- Carrying out medical examination of staff that are in direct contact with water treatment processes and maintaining record of same;
- Performing any other duties relevant to the post as assigned from time to time.
