Job Description

The USAID/Malawi Learn to Perform Activity (L2P) is a five-year task order that works closely with the Mission’s Program Office (PRO) to improve the Mission’s performance management, enhance program efficiency, and advance Mission learning with Banyan Global as the prime contractor and The Mitchell Group, Inc. (TMG) as subcontractor. Based in Lilongwe, L2P provides the Mission access to technical and advisory services to design and carry out specialized monitoring, evaluation, collaborating, learning, and adapting (MECLA) tasks that support program cycle implementation, as well as bolster the capacity of Mission staff and select partners to employ improved MECLA practices. Ultimately, through L2P, USAID/Malawi will be well-positioned to make data-driven decisions and strategically steer the Mission’s highly integrated Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) toward greater development results.

The Mitchell Group is recruiting a short-term Knowledge Management Specialist to provide surge support and coverage for the L2P team to deliver knowledge management activities in line with the annual work plan. The consultant will coordinate and work closely with the L2P team in Malawi and the TMG home office program management unit. The Knowledge Management Specialist will work under the overall supervision of the L2P Chief of Party with direct oversight from the M&E Specialist. The anticipated level of effort (LOE) is 60 days over a period of approximately 3 months. The candidate must be authorized to work in Malawi.

Objectives

This scope of work aims to engage a consultant to deliver ongoing knowledge management tasks in support of the USAID/Malawi Learn to Perform Activity. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a knowledge management repository, designing and planning learning events, producing high-quality videos, producing visually appealing communications products and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Knowledge Management Specialist consultant will:

· Finalize the design and Maintain a Knowledge Management Repository: The KM repository is in the final stages of development. The consultant will support with the finalization of the design, compile content, regularly upload materials, and support continuous refinement of a comprehensive knowledge repository to facilitate easy access and sharing of learning across USAID stakeholders and implementing partners in Malawi.

· Support Co-creation and Implementation of Learning Events: Spearhead the conceptualization and execution of engaging learning events, workshops, and seminars to foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Support preparations for evaluation and assessment dissemination tasks.

· Lead Production of High-Quality Videos: Harness your creativity to produce visually captivating and informative videos that effectively communicate USAID’s investment impact, key messages and best practices.

· Conceptualize and Design Communication Products: Translate complex reports, evaluations, and assessments into visually appealing communication products using tools such as Canva and Adobe Photoshop suite.

· Synthesis of Evaluations, Studies, and Assessments: Distill findings from various evaluations, studies, and assessments into actionable insights to inform decision-making processes.

Timing and Level of Effort

The assignment is expected to be allocated approximately 60 workdays (LOE), beginning in late-April 2024 until approximately July 2024.

Minimum Qualifications

· A bachelor’s degree in communication for development, communications or any related field. A master’s degree in any of these fields will be an added advantage.

  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant professional experience in monitoring and evaluation and learning, including experience closely related to knowledge management, organizational learning, and other related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and supporting successful knowledge management and organizational learning practices.
  • Proficiency using Canva, Adobe Photoshop suite, and other relevant tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills working with multi-level stakeholders, including technical and subject matter experts, government agencies, partners, and others.
  • Experience with dashboards, data visualization, web platforms, social media, and knowledge management principles.
  • Strong knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Oral and written fluency in English required.
