Overview

Jhpiego seeks to recruit a highly motivated IT Support Intern to be based in Lilongwe. The IT Support Intern will assist in providing comprehensive support in IT-related tasks, aiding in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT equipment. The role involves aiding users in utilizing computer software, hardware, Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and email systems. The intern will actively contribute to ensuring optimal functionality of IT systems.

Responsibilities

Desktop and Application Support:

  • Assist in diagnosing and resolving PC, printer, and peripheral device issues.
  • Support in identifying and installing essential software patches.
  • Help in setting up desktop environments for networked PC users.
  • Aid in installing and testing new peripherals as required.
  • Assist in diagnosing basic PC/laptop, printer, peripheral, and software faults.

Documentation and Support:

  • Assist in providing support documentation and maintaining logs.
  • Collaborate on tasks until completion or referral to senior staff.
  • Aid in managing multiple open cases and conducting routine staff training.

Network Support:

  • Assist in basic network monitoring and inform senior staff of any issues noted.
  • Support basic diagnostic and recovery routines on network equipment.

Configuration and Installation Support:

  • Help in identifying failing systems and proposing solutions.
  • Support in virus protection, antivirus updates, and virus removal tasks.
  • Aid in adherence to policies regarding staff access to data and files.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Keen on new imaging technologies and their utilization like AI
  • Assist in IT inventory management and software license registers.
  • Contribute to retrieving and recording information in databases or logs.
  • Support in executing updates/upgrades in regional offices.
  • Assist with any other necessary tasks assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with Windows 10 or above and Windows Server operating systems.
  • Strong interest in IT support with basic troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Detail-oriented and capable of handling confidential information.
  • Basic understanding of structured cabling principles and network devices.
  • Familiarity with documenting system configuration changes.
