The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. As the international community has committed to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition by 2030, one in nine people worldwide still do not have enough to eat. Food and food-related assistance lie at the heart of the struggle to break the cycle of hunger and poverty.

Context

IT department is one of the sections in WFP Malawi set up. The section offers IT related support to programmes. Under technical guidance from the IT Officer, the successful UNV IT Officer will be assigned varying IT-related roles in support of core WFP programmes.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of the IT Officer and the general guidance of the Head of Finance and Administration, the incumbent will perform the following duties: Providing first line of support to end users while ensuring that tasks are delivered within the agreed standards and deadlines. Assisting in the provision of standard IT training to users. Managing both hardware and software inventories, ensuring that all movements are tracked and obsolete. Configure IT equipment according to WFP corporate Standards Configuration and maintenance of VHF and HF radios. Providing technical assistance during meetings, training sessions and other corporate events. Ensure that staff have means of working at home. Assisting in the management, operations, and maintenance of the local Area Network (LAN), Wireless (WLAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems. Assisting in management of IP telephone system

Required experience

3 years of experience in : – Telecommunication (Radio operations) – Management of O365 environment – Hardware Maintenance – Basic knowledge in managing Local area network devices

Bachelor degree or equivalent in IT related fields
